A safe space to talk, reflect, and be heard

I work with young people and adults who want a better connection with themselves, their feelings and the people around them.

The first conversation is free and commits you to nothing.

About me

Fiona MacGregor

I have worked as a gestalt psychotherapist since 2017. Before that I spent eight years in marketing, so I know well what it looks like when work eats everything else.

I do not give advice in therapy. I will ask what you feel as you tell me, and what is happening in your body. That is usually where things that have not moved for years begin to move.

  • Four-year training in gestalt psychotherapy, Scottish Gestalt Centre, Edinburgh
  • MA (Hons) in Psychology, University of Edinburgh
  • Regular supervision and personal therapy, registered member of COSCA and the UK Council for Psychotherapy

ABOUT THERAPY

It helps to know what you are getting into

What is psychotherapy?

A conversation with a trained person, once a week. Nothing you say leaves the room.

You don't have to be in crisis to come. It is enough that something has bothered you for a few months and simply will not pass.

More about psychotherapy

What is gestalt therapy?

Gestalt is about what is happening here and now. How you breathe while you talk about your mother, where you tighten when you say you are fine.

We talk less about the past and try out more new ways for you to say what you usually leave unsaid.

More about gestalt

What is the goal of psychotherapy?

The goal of psychotherapy is not to become someone else, nor for someone to tell you how to live. The goal is to understand yourself better: your needs, feelings, boundaries, patterns of behaviour and the ways you build relationships with others.

Through that process you gain room to live more authentically.

Authenticity means living in line with yourself: recognising what you really feel, what you need and what matters to you, instead of automatically following other people's expectations or patterns you picked up over time.

It does not mean we will always know what we want, or always do the first thing that comes to mind. It means we have more awareness and more freedom to choose how we live.

Testimonials

In my clients' words

I came because I could not sleep. Six months later I realised the problem was not sleep, but that I could not say no to anyone.
M. 34, anxiety
I was afraid someone would tell me what to do. Emma only asked how I felt while I was talking. That surprised me.
S. 41, burnout
I still have the same conversations with my mother. The difference is that they no longer knock me out for two days.
J. 27, family relationships
