Gestalt psychotherapy · in person and online

I will help you understand what is holding you back, and find your way forward.

I work with young people and adults who want a deeper contact with themselves and with the people around them. The first conversation is free and commits you to nothing.

About me

For years I was good at everything except being myself.

I grew up as the person you could count on - hard-working, resourceful, always positive. It took me a long time to see that this was not strength but armour. Armour is good while it protects, but in time it begins to limit us.

In psychotherapy I felt safe enough, for the first time, to take it off and discover for myself what was underneath. That is why today I sit on the other side of that room. I know how frightening and how freeing it can be, and I want to support you through that process.

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy can help you understand yourself better - your thoughts, feelings, reactions, and behavior.

It can be a space where you speak openly about what weighs on you, without judgment and without needing to have all the answers.

A therapist will not tell you what to do, nor solve your problems for you.

What is gestalt therapy

Gestalt therapy helps you become more aware, more authentic, and more present in your life.

“Gestalt” is a German word carrying the idea that the whole is more than the sum of its parts.

In gestalt therapy a person is seen as a whole, in which thoughts, emotions, body and behavior are interconnected and cannot be fully understood in isolation.

What is the goal of psychotherapy?

The goal is not to become someone else, but to become more fully yourself.

Authenticity means living in accordance with yourself: recognizing what you truly feel, what you need and what matters to you, instead of automatically following other people’s expectations or patterns you have taken on over time.

Themes

What brings people to therapy

  • Anxiety and tension
  • Sadness and low mood
  • Low self-confidence
  • Difficulties in relationships
  • Trouble setting boundaries
  • Stress and overwhelm
  • Loss and break-ups
  • Loneliness
  • A sense of dissatisfaction with life
  • Fear of change
  • Life transitions
  • Searching for yourself and personal growth

You do not need to have a “big problem” to seek support. Sometimes, it is enough to feel that there is something you no longer want to carry alone.

Through the form at the bottom of the page, or by phone at (503) 555-0148. Two sentences about what brings you are enough.

02

We find a time

I reply personally within 48 hours and suggest open slots for an introductory conversation, in person or online.

03

Our first conversation

You do not need to know in advance what you will say. We start from how you feel here and now. If I judge that I cannot help you, I will refer you to a colleague.

Frequently asked questions

+How long does therapy last?

It depends on what brings you. Some people come for ten or so sessions because of a specific situation, others stay for years. You decide how long, and we talk about it openly.

+How long is one session?

An individual session lasts 60 minutes, on the same day and hour each week. Group work lasts 90 minutes.

+Is everything I say confidential?

Yes. The only exceptions are situations of immediate danger to life prescribed by law, and I explain those to you in the first session.

+Do online sessions help just as much?

Yes, on one condition: that you have a space where nobody can hear you, and half an hour of quiet afterwards. I work over a secure video connection.

+Do you prescribe medication?

No — I am not a physician. If I think a psychiatric assessment would help you, I will refer you to a colleague I work with.

+What if I do not feel comfortable after the first talk?

Say so freely. A therapist is not right for everyone, and that is not a failure — I will help you find someone with whom you feel safer.
